A52 Wyvern Transport Improvement Scheme - update

A52 Wyvern Transport Improvement Scheme – update

Wyvern – A52 Westbound on and off slip road closures

Recent work to demolish Meadow Lane Footbridge, which links Chaddesden to the Wyvern and Pride Park areas, was completed successfully and ahead of schedule. Now that the footbridge has been demolished, the next phase will involve works in the area near the Derwent Parade roundabout. As well as needing the space to build the replacement footbridge, work will also take place to realign the slip roads between Wyvern and the A52 Westbound. There will also be changes to the roundabout at the junction of Derwent Parade and Wyvern Way, with temporary traffic lights on Wyvernside, Wyvern Way and Derwent Parade.

From Monday 3 June 2019, the Wyvern/A52 – Westbound slip roads will be closed. Vehicles travelling to and from Wyvern/Pride Park will need to follow the signed diversion routes.

Wyvern Way off slip from A52 westbound (towards Derby city centre) – closed from 3 June 2019 for 13 weeks
Vehicles travelling to Pride Park/Wyvern from the A52 Westbound should continue on the A52 towards Pentagon Island, taking the second exit onto Eastgate and Holmes Bridge (A601), turning left at the traffic lights and then keeping right onto Station Approach and Pride Parkway (A6), turning left at the second roundabout to Derwent Parade.

Wyvern Way on slip to A52 westbound (towards Derby city centre) – closed from 3 June 2019 for 13 months
Vehicles travelling from Wyvern/Pride Park will be diverted along Derwent Parade to Pride Parkway (A6), continuing along Station Approach to Cock Pitt, turning right at the traffic lights to Holmes Bridge (A601) around Darwin Place to Eastgate and Pentagon Island.

The roads will be re-opened earlier if works are completed ahead of the scheduled times.
Further details about the scheme are available on the A52 Scheme webpage. This will be regularly updated, along with social media updates as the scheme progresses. You can read the news announcement about the Meadow Lane footbridge and associated FAQs on our newsroom.
