A52 Wyvern Transport Improvement Scheme – Stakeholder Update – March 2018
A52 Brian Clough Way
The next phase of work, between the Pentagon and Raynesway junctions, starts on Saturday 24th March 2018. This phase includes the construction of the new concrete central reservation barrier. This needs to be carried out in the daytime and is being done during the Easter school holiday period, when there will be less traffic on the roads. One lane of the carriageway in each direction will be closed for 24 hours a day. The lane closures will be in place between Saturday 24th March and Thursday 29th March and then again after the Easter Bank Holiday weekend between Tuesday 3rd April and Friday 6th April.
Wyvern Way/Stanier Way junction improvement works
The road layout at Wyvern Way/Stanier Way junction was altered during the evening of 21st March as part of the next phase of work to construct a new roundabout at this junction. A few issues with this junction were raised and changes to the road markings were made overnight on 22nd March. We will continue to monitor the situation.
Area between the A52 and park near to Waterford Drive
On Friday 16th March pupils from Meadow Farm Community Primary School helped to plant over 120 trees in this area. In total 3,200 trees have been planted, with help from the Trees for Cities project. Further details are in this article from Council News.
Footbridge from Meadow Lane, Chaddesden, to Wyvern Retail Park
At the end of the existing footbridge on the Wyvern side, a ramp has been created leading to a temporary pedestrian crossing. The area between Wyvern Way and Toys R Us car park has been fenced off for safety reasons whilst work takes place in the area. The footbridge will stay in place whilst the replacement footbridge is constructed from Meadow Lane to the Wyvern Retail Park.
Further details about the scheme are on the A52 Scheme webpage. This will be regularly updated as the Scheme progresses.
