A52 Wyvern Transport Improvement Scheme
The A52 Wyvern Transport Improvement scheme main works contract with Galliford Try commenced on 9th October. A small amount of night time work has taken place on the A52 following the introduction of the temporary safety measures and reduced speed limit. Works to construct the new central reservation, drainage improvements and additional lane on the A52 Eastbound are planned to start on 13th November and continue until the end of February 2018.
The A52 Brian Clough Way eastbound, between Pentagon and Raynesway junctions, will be closed from 8pm to 6am each night from Monday 13th November to Friday 17th November. No works will take place at the weekend and the road will be opened by 6am on Saturday morning. We will only close the road when necessary, so if we finish works before 6am we will open it earlier. This means there will be no access to the A52 Brian Clough Way eastbound from Eastgate flyover/Pentagon Island or from Wyvern Way. The signed diversion route will be via the A6, Pride Park and A5111 Raynesway. Drawings showing the routes affected and the proposed diversions are available on the A52 Scheme webpage
Our contractors will be removing street lighting in the central reservation. For safety reasons we also need to close the outside lane on Brian Clough Way westbound from Raynesway to Pentagon. The overnight lane closures will be at the same times as the eastbound closures from Monday 13th November to Friday 17th November.
Work is also being carried out during the daytime on Wyvern Way. This involves offline works and narrowed lanes on Wyvern Way and the roundabout near Derwent Parade. We have also started work to prepare for the replacement of Meadow Lane footbridge.
From Monday 20 November to 22 December, the midweek night time closures on the A52 eastbound will be from Pentagon Island to Wyvern. There will be no access to the A52 Brian Clough Way from Eastgate flyover/Pentagon Island, but the A52 will be open from Wyvern Way. Drivers will be diverted via Pride Park to re-join the A52 at the Wyvern.
Work will re-commence after the Christmas period on Monday 8 January 2018. Further details about this phase of work will be given at a later date.
