Stakeholder Update on the A52 Wyvern Transport Improvement Scheme
Work was carried out in November and December to improve the access to the Wyvern for motorised and non-motorised users, in the lead up to Christmas. All the footways around Derwent Parade roundabout and Wyvern Way are now in use, with the final surface course to be applied in the New Year. Street lighting works around Derwent Parade roundabout will be completed by the end of this week.
The site will be shut down on Friday 20th December and work will re-commence on Monday 6th January 2020. The current temporary traffic management system will remain in place throughout this period.
We made good progress on the construction of the new on-slip road from Wyvern on to the A52, but have not been able to temporarily open the slip road for safety reasons. Work has started on the construction of the bridge superstructure and access was required for the delivery of sections of the new footbridge that have arrived on site over the past few weeks.
Link to the Council News article issued on 18th December 2019 about the arrival on site of the new footbridge.
A52 Brian Clough Way Eastbound – daytime off-peak lane closure – weekdays from 8th to 10th January 2020.
There will be an off-peak lane closure on the A52 Eastbound carriageway, from 9.30am to 3.00pm each weekday, from Wednesday 8th January to Friday 10th January. The inside lane will be closed between Pentagon Island and Wyvern whilst barrier works are carried out. The slip road off the A52 to Wyvern Way will be open as normal.
Further details about the scheme are available on the A52 Scheme webpage. This will be regularly updated, along with social media updates, as the scheme progresses.
