Chartwell

Chartwell Ferrari Open Day

Chartwell are an Official Ferrari Approved Body Repair Centre. This prestige approval comes direct from Ferrari Italy who visit Chartwell regularly.



To maintain this highly sort after Approval, Chartwell are audited and trained by Ferrari Italy and GB and all Chartwell technicians are sent direct to Italy for training and development. Chartwell have invested in the most up to date Ferrari specific tooling and diagnostic equipment only available to Ferrari Approved Repair Centres.



To allow Ferrari owners to see their impressive facilities, Chartwell opened its doors on Sunday 17th May 2009 to the Ferrari Owners Club.



Over 50 Ferrari owners and their cars attended the open day, which included free registration for all members onto Chartwells Accident Management Scheme, a Ferrari F430 and a Maserati Quattroporte supplied by Graypaul of Nottingham to browse round, refreshments and buffet, free prize draws to win a variety of prizes such as a Ferrari goodies hamper and tickets to Silverstone.



The main event of the day was guided tours through Chartwells complex and state of the art workshop area. The facility boasts an array of complex areas that a Ferrari vehicle will go through during the repair process. These include:



Specialist clean room

Today’s vehicles rely on many different materials; which include Aluminium and Carbon Fibre. The repair of these materials requires a clean environment and separate tooling to ensure there is no contamination of the material or composite during the repair as this would result in early failure or corrosion.



Specialist jig area

Within the facility, Chartwell have invested in a specific area which houses the Ferrari designated jig systems, welders and body alignment brackets needed to reinstate a Ferrari vehicle to its original factory body measurements.



Refinish Booths and Paint System

The quality of any repair is always paramount and the paint finish is usually the first thing scrutinised. Chartwell can mix over 40,000 colours on site and have the specialist scheme specifically for Ferrari which is an environmentally stable water based system. This ensures any colour required can be matched and reproduced. The refinish plant is fully managed by a central computer.



Wheel alignment area

The laser wheel alignment system is used to ensure the mechanical components are set correctly giving the handling and performance expected from a Ferrari.



Among the features of the day Chartwell displayed a free prize draw for ‘Guess the Estimate’. This was a way to bring a bit of fun to a very important topic relating to Prestige Body Repairs – the cost. As an Approved Ferrari Repair Centre,

Chartwell have the knowledge and skills needed to estimate and repair this complex marque. Chartwell have access to the latest computer technology and diagnostic equipment, meaning the customer can be totally confident the cost they are given is the correct one. All estimates are fully audited and supported by Ferrari GB and Italy.
